Things to do in the Highlands

Restaurants

While we’re still in the weird reality of COVID-19, you can certainly support all of the tremendous restaurants in the Highlands neighborhood. It’s home to some new and trendy restaurants, along with casual pizza and taco joints. From the outdoor patios on 32nd street to brewery rooftops, there’s all kinds of spots to enjoy bites, margaritas, even kombucha on tap!

Shopping

The Highlands is full of boutiques where you can find something a little unique! Head to Tennyson Street, Highlands Square, or Platte Street for fashion, home goods, and gifts galore. If you’re looking for a little something to brighten your day (or someone else’s), there are family-owned floral shops all over the Highlands.

Outdoor Activities

Can’t get to the mountains, but itching to get outside? The Highlands is the perfect neighborhood for a quick breath of fresh air. Head to Sloan’s Lake for a lap around the 3 mile path, or even launch out on a paddle board or kayak in the water. Rocky Mountain Lake Park is the prefect spot to sit on a blanket and enjoy some snacks in the shade while social distancing. Need something a little longer? Take off on the Platte River running/biking trail which can take you all the way down to Englewood!

Festivals and Markets

The Highlands neighborhood is home to many festivals and markets in the city. You can find regular farmer’s markets on 32nd street or just a block away from Sloan’s Lake. In the heat of summer, relax in the park and listen to live Jazz music 3 nights a week. Check out a Denver event calendar for more as they are scheduled throughout the year!

Living in the Highlands

In the Highlands you can find apartment complexes big and small, townhouses, duplexes, and standalone homes. As it’s certainly a higher-priced area of town due to walkability and value, rental prices can range from $1,700 – $2,000 depending on exact location.

Given its appeal, finding housing in the area can be difficult. If you are looking to move to the Highlands area, contact Vita for the smoothest move.
